Winners!!!

I’ve chosen winners for both contests, but am not hearing back from them. The internet seems to be a bit goofy this week, or maybe it’s just my servers. It could be their spam filters.

At any rate, the winner of the copy of KISS OF FIRE is Kim (comment #9).

And the winner of the copy of ALL OR NOTHING is AlisonH (comment #5).

Edited to Add – Okay, I’ve heard from Kim. One prize is on its way!

Edited to Add – And now I’ve heard back from AlisonH!

Congrats to both winners!

Early Review Quote for FALLEN

Many of you know how crazy in love I am with the first book in my new Tor series. (Or maybe I’m just crazy in love with Adam Montgomery, the fallen angel hero of that book. You decide.) At any rate, the fabulously talented Linnea Sinclair, Queen of Future-Set Romance, graciously offered to read the book manuscript and gave me a yummy review quote. Here it is:

“Beautifully written, intensely passionate and gripping, FALLEN grabbed me
from the first sentence and didn’t let go. Its eerie future world and
frightening mores provide an unforgettable backdrop to the story of Lilia
Desjardins, the shade-hunter, and fallen-angel turned cop, Adam Montgomery.
It’s Matrix, Blade Runner and Terminator rolled into a riveting love story
and made better. Perfect. A must-read by an author who keeps you on the
edge of your seat.”
—Linnea Sinclair

And what is not to love about that?!

FALLEN will be an October 2008 release from Tor Paranormal Romance. I hear that there might be ARC’s at RWA National in the goody room (fingers crossed) although such things are only certain when they happen. There’s an excerpt for FALLEN on my website, if you’re intrigued by Linnea’s quote.

Planning A Mission

The Pam and I are planning a mission. Like all tactical manouvres, it requires planning, intelligence-gathering, and foresight. Unlike many such strategies, though, this one will involve the acquisition of wool.

Knitting wool.

(Try to say that like Sean Connery as 007. Instead of “Bond. James Bond.” say “Wool. Knitting wool.” Just for fun.)

This summer, the Romance Writers of America’s annual convention will be in San Francisco. As knitting wool is the perfect souvenir – it squishes; it doesn’t break; it’s pretty; it keeps on giving when you knit it into something – the hunt for a suitable local yarn store is on.

Last year, the convention was in Dallas – The Pam and I made a foray to The Shabby Sheep, a darling little shop with yummy yummy stock. (I used the directions page from their site in the link, because there’s a picture of the shop there. Darling, isn’t it?) Some Manos del Uruguay called to me there, and became a Tweedy Vest last fall. (And yes, there was sock wool that came home with me, and no, it isn’t knitted yet, but as I keep telling Gina, sock wool doesn’t count.)

So, I’ve googled and I’ve mapquested and I have a few ideas. We could use some on-the-ground recognizance, though. If you live in San Francisco, though, or you have a favourite local yarn store there, please post your suggestions in the comments here. I have a copy of ALL OR NOTHING that happily could find its way into the hands of a fellow knitting enthusiast.

More Dragonfire

Several of you have asked in the comments about the continuation of the Dragonfire series after Quinn’s book. I thought I’d answer here, as it’ll be easier to find the info.

Right now, there are three Dragonfire books contracted and scheduled for publication.

1. KISS OF FIRE – this is Quinn’s book, which is on sale now.

2. KISS OF FURY – this is Donovan’s book, which will be on sale in August. The cover and an excerpt are already posted on my site, if you’re curious.

3. KISS OF FATE – this is Erik’s book, which will be on sale February 2009. I’m still writing this book, as Erik is reluctant to surrender his secrets. He’s got a lot of them, so Eileen and I are patiently unraveling them all, in order to ensure he gets the H.E.A. he and Eileen deserve.

The intent was always that the series would continue – I envision either seven book series or a thirteen book series, which makes my editor laugh – but in publishing, such decisions are always contingent upon sales. It looks as if Quinn’s book is doing well out there in the world, so fingers crossed!

There won’t be any discussions until I finish Erik’s book, so that’s job #1. I sense that there’s one last (big, dark) secret Eileen and I need to get out of the leader of the Pyr. It holds the key to understanding him and resolving his conflicts. It must be a really good secret for Erik to be so determined to hide it, don’t you think?

Fortunately, Eileen is just as curious as I am – and with the firestorm on her side, she has a serious advantage on me. Lucky for me, she likes sharing the stories she collects.

Friday Fun

I promised you another contest this week, didn’t I? Here it is Friday and I haven’t posted it yet.

So, let’s have a contest! The prize is an autographed copy of KISS OF FIRE (but you knew that already, didn’t you?). You have until 6 am Eastern on MONDAY morning to post a comment on this blog – I’ll pick a winner then.

Good luck, and have a great weekend!

Edited to add – Oh, it’s quiet here today. Just me and Ruth! So, let’s extend the contest and leave it open to entries until the end of the month. We’ll end February with a flourish! Enter by midnight Thursday Feb 29th – next Friday we’ll have a winner.
