So, how are your socks coming along? We know that Pam’s making great progress, since she started early.
I’ve finished my first sock and I like it. All swirly cherry caramel. It’s not a sleek sock, though – too bulky for that. Here’s hoping they’re warm because they’re not glamourous.
It might be the goat. Remember when I told you about the shawl I knit from Wellington Fibres Laceweight? Well, it had the same kind of kink and crimp in the fibre itself, and the yarn was almost impossible to knit tightly. OTOH, it has a wonderful gloss and shine, and feels so silky soft. These socks have the same thing going on, not surprising since the fibre blend is so similar.
I’m thinking I like angora goats. I discovered on Ravelry that the Hand Wash instruction on the label isn’t just a suggestion – other goaty-blend sock yarns shrink and felt in the washer. So, I’ll have to make another pair to have two pair of socks to handwash. I’m less likely to forget that way. Maybe that purpley-blue Fleece Artist colourway needs to be Pomatomus socks.
So, how about your socks? Learn anything new about what you like or don’t like?

I’ve got about three inches done, but this isn’t a project that I can just pick up and work on for a few mintues every day. There’s too much needle and yarn management going on, so it needs a proper block of time – such as during a baseball game! I know this will be especially true when turning the heel and doing the gusset.
OTOH, I did crochet a sock too. This one was had no real pattern, just crocheted in the round with the heel added on later. I have to seam the heel yet. I like it though, and it was very portable and quick to do. So I’ll start the other one pretty soon, I think.
Maybe TWO pairs of socks will get done this month.

That’s what I didn’t like about knitting socks on two circulars – I had to pay too much attention, probably because I’m really used to using DPN’s.
Two pairs of socks, hmm? Pam raises the bar…!

I am ashamed to say that I haven’t cast on yet. I’ve been madly finishing up a bunch little projects. I hate feeling guilty about starting something new, even if I would have gotten over it quickly.;o)
I’m on a hunt for some perfect yarn for the Potamous (spelled wrong I know) at the Knitter’s Frolic.
