So here we are at the end of our two month sock KAL.
I finished one pair of Cherry Swirl socks and also a pair of Mystery socks from yarn in the odd lots. Here are the Mystery socks, so called because I don’t know what the yarn is. It’s a wool blend (wool plus nylon) but the brand is a mystery:
You can see that I had to use a bit of a different colour from the same yarn to finish the toe on the left sock. I also couldn’t easily see how to match them, so didn’t. (Gina and The Pam are shocked. The world has become unpredictable!) The graduated variegation made it hard to spot the repeat in the yarn, but also, I suspect that the balls were different dye lots. One sock is more blue than the other.
But I like them and they’re comfortable, and hey, the wool cost about a $1. This was Frugal Knitting! I’m hoping to find out what the yarn is one of these days, and buy some first quality of it.
Did you finish your socks? Or did you encounter new and insurmountable sock challenges?

Shocked. Stunned. I need caffeine to process.

I also pressed send too soon. Was going to say that I really love the colors. Wool looks lovely. Is it soft?
As to my progress, I just finished a pair I started about two years ago. It was the mismatched pair I posted about on our blog those eons back. Now I have to find the other mismatched sock–which is likely in a box somewhere–and see if I can finish that pair too. Not letting myself start anything until I finish what’s been started already.

Hi Gina -
Good to see you again! Yes, the wool is soft and sturdy, as a sock wool should be. It has just the right smoosh-factor, I think, which is why I’m curious as to what it really is. Until then, I have enough from the odd lots for another 3 or maybe 4 pair.
Kudos to you for finishing those socks – and other things. I finished my big felted Weekend Getaway bag but am waiting for technical support on the installation of the base. It’s gorgeous though. Very very happy knitter here.
I’m also trying to finish more before starting more. It’s tough because starting is so much fun.

To me the process starts when I buy the yarn. Unfortunately, sometimes it ends there too, especially if I can visualize a finished project too well.
When I used to sew my clothes, I found myself stalling at the point where I would try it on and see what it would look like. Apparently that was like an “off” switch. It could be very hard to get momentum back after that.
I’m afraid it’s very true about my writing as well. Once I’m through the middle and ready for the spring home, I stall . . .
I should really blog about this.
BTW–no house yet. Can you believe it?? It’s not for lack of trying either.

That should have been “sprint home” not spring . . .

How annoying that you’re still househunting. I didn’t want to ask, esp as you’d said there’d be no doubt when you finally had a moving day.
There must be a perfect house, just waiting for the right moment to be yours. Good luck.

When we finally get a house I might make so much noise you would actually hear it where you are. But, I’ll be sure to send you an announcement anyway.
