Me & My Books

I write romantic fiction, because I’m interested in relationships and how people work out the issues between them. I also like happy endings!

I have written under three different names, which keeps things interesting.

• I write paranormal romance as Deborah Cooke. My Dragonfire series features dragon shape shifter heroes and is being cross-marketed as urban fantasy. WHISPER KISS, #5 in that series, was released in August 2010, and DARKFIRE KISS, #6, will be released in May 2011. There will also be a YA Dragonfire series, launching in 2011 and a digital novella about the Dragon’s Teeth Warriors in July 2010. Finally, I have bookplates available for readers – check this post for more information about Dragonfire Bookplates.

• I write future-set romance as Claire Delacroix. I have also written historical romance under this name. My Delacroix work often includes fantasy elements. My current series from Tor, for example, features fallen angel heroes in a future-set society (post-nuclear but pre-Apocalyptic) – FALLEN and GUARDIAN have been released and REBEL will be released in September 2010. Check the Library on the Delacroix site for all Delacroix titles.

• I have written contemporary romance as Claire Cross and also mainstream with romantic elements. Time travel and magic books are listed here, and the contemporaries are listed here.

My entire published backlist is on my website HERE.

All of my awards and accolades are listed HERE.

I’m a member of Romance Writers of America, as well as Toronto Romance Writers and RWA’s Online Chapter.

For curious readers, I keep a listserve on Yahoo Groups called Chestwick. It’s announcement only, so subscribers just receive one monthly message from me. Please subscribe if you’d like to be kept up to date.

I was also selected to be the writer-in-residence at the Toronto Public Library in October and November 2009, the first time that TPL has offered a residency focussed on the romance genre. The blog associated with the residency, which I created as a resource for aspiring romance writers, remains live HERE.

The easiest way to contact me is by leaving a comment on a post on this blog. The spam filters here are good, but they do make mistakes occasionally. (They dislike all the usual things that spam filters dislike – bad email addies, hotlinks in the comment, the familiar key words, etc.) If your comment doesn’t appear on the blog within 24 hours, the filters probably ate it. Try again, being sure to omit those triggers.

I would really like to see how the rest of the Jewels of Kinfairlie have fared. Especially Tynan and Rosamunde. Please continue that series for you faithful readers.

    Amanda -

Thanks for commenting. I did finish Rosamunde’s story – it’s called “The Ballad of Rosamunde” and was published in an anthology earlier this year, called THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF IRISH ROMANCE. You can find the ISBN# and see the cover on my website here (scroll down to Novellas) and on the blog here.

I would love to tell the stories of the rest of the siblings in that family, but the market is very tough for historical romances. I blogged about this particular challenge quite a while ago, here.

    Thanks for posting!
